There are a lot of good videos out there on global warming and climate change, and solutions to them. Sometimes, though, I have a hard time finding the one I’m looking for. So, I thought I’d create a piece with all the best global warming and climate change videos I know of (and I’ll add to it as new ones are created).
I’m splitting this up into a few pages, since a page full of videos can take a long time to load. The pages are as follows:
- Page 1 (this one) — Top Videos
- Page 2 — Specific Climate Science Topics (mostly, debunking of common myths)
- Page 3 — Humor
- Page 4 — Climate Activism & Activists
Climate Change & National Security
Think climate change is just about the birds, the bees, how much you need to use your air conditioning, and the flooding of coastal cities?
Climate change (as well as its causes) are significant issues that have an effect on our national security.
U.S. Navy Chief Oceanographer, Former ‘Hardcore Skeptic’ on Climate Change
Here’s a great video of a speech of Admiral David Titley, the Chief Oceanographer and Navigator of the US Navy. “A Phd, he describes himself as a former climate skeptic who has been convinced by the evidence that this is the greatest challenge of the 21st century,” as the YouTube page nicely summarizes (just needs to volume turned up a bit):
Climate Science in 1956
Think climate science and the realization that we are creating global warming and significant climate change is something new to our generation?
The climate has been studied for over a century, and humanity’s influence on climate — the fact that we can, and are, causing rapid global warming and climate change — has been well-known by scientists (and even some of the public) for decades.
Climate Science 101 (slightly longer version here)
Want a quick 101 on climate science?
Here it is, narrated by Bill Nye (The Science Guy):
Top Senators Discuss Global Warming, Climate Science, and ‘Climategate’
Below is a TOP discussion of some key topics related to global warming and climate science by some true Climate Hawks in the U.S. Senate.
Senator Franken and Senator Whitehouse nail the scientific consensus on human-caused, catastrophic global warming, the manufacturing of doubt by fossil fuel–funded think-tanks that did the same thing for the tobacco industry (especially around the issue of the harms of second-hand smoke), ‘climategate-gate’, global warming skeptics vs deniers, the link between extreme events such as snowstorms and fires to global warming, the fact that exactly what climate scientists have predicted has been coming true in recent years.
Republican Scientists Having Hard Time with Anti-Science Colleagues
As the subheading says:
Video of Dog Explains Difference between Global Warming Trend and Global Warming Variation
A common confusion between global warming deniers and even common people is the difference between a long-term temperature or warming trend and short-term variation. Here’s a wonderful, clever video on this:
And, if you haven’t seen this simple GIF from Skeptical Science, it is a must-see, too:
Berkeley Earth Surface Temperature (BEST) land-only surface temperature data (green) with linear trends applied to the timeframes 1973 to 1980, 1980 to 1988, 1988 to 1995, 1995 to 2001, 1998 to 2005, 2002 to 2010 (blue), and 1973 to 2010 (red).
Why aren’t we acting faster to address global warming and resulting climate change?
Well, there’s a massive fossil-fuel-funded doubt machine in place focused on creating confusion in the public and amongst policy-makers (around the topic of global warming/climate change), similar to the doubt machine created for a long time by the tobacco industry… except stronger. The main tactic — contend that the science is unsettled, using pseudo-science and tons of lobbyists. Here’s more on that:
Heartland Institute’s Push to ‘Better Educate’ Our Kids on Global Warming
The recent leak of Heartland Institute documents showed that the institute infamous for trying to convince the public that smoking and second-hand smoke are safe is now trying to get into our children’s classrooms to teach them what are essentially conspiracy theories on global warming and climate change. The Climate Reality Project created this clever video as a response:
Koch Brothers Infiltrating Universities
Th infamous Koch Brothers lead the charge on this climate denial and doubt front. Here’s more on their efforts to actually infiltrate our universities:
Bill Maher on Climate Change
This almost went into the Humor section, but I thought it was too good to not put on the front page. Check out Bill Maher tearing down global warming denial in this wonderful monologue:
Unwinding “Hide the Decline” (“Climategate”)
“Climategate” was a crime. Not because the climate scientists were doing anything wrong scientifically, but because someone broke into their email accounts and tried (quite successfully) to frame them. Here’s more:

Similar to the above, Peter Sinclair delves even more into the hounding and aggression towards climate scientists in this video:

Another great interview with Dr. Michael Mann here.

Caution: Do Not Make Connections
And, perhaps my favorite video, this brilliant one is a reading of a wonderful Bill McKibben piece by Josh Fox, creator of the Academy-Award-nominated film Gasland:
And, before going on to page 2, there’s a great BBC show I posted several videos of before. It is a show by Nobel Prize winner Dr. Paul Nurse, on the outright attack on science. Highly Recommended! Check it out:
