Cloud Wakes from Juan Fernandez Islands

This image of the Juan Fernandez Islands was captured by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Aqua satellite on April 29, and shows the effect of two small islands on the atmosphere of Chile.

Isla Alejandro Selkirk and Isla Robinson Crusoe are both volcanic islands arising from an east-west submarine ridge, and though barely visible in this image, their effect on nearby clouds is obvious.
