Autumn Colours Across Northeastern America (Photo of the Day)

I love autumn (or fall if you are that way inclined) and I love getting to see images of it spreading across a country from above, like this image below which was taken on October 9, and shows the northeastern portion of North America.

North, the image stays green, with the mainly needled coniferous trees, such as pine and spruce which stay green year round, but move south and the browns and oranges of autumn leaves starts to appear in US states like Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut and Rhode Island, who celebrate with fall foliage festivals.

The image was taken using the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard the Aqua satellite.
