Hertsgaard Nails Inhofe, Oil Lobbyists [Amazing Video Interviews]

Wow, no joke, Mark Hertsgaard nailed it in some key interviews with “climate cranks” in Washington this week. Explicitly pointing out that the most prestigious, overarching scientific bodies in the world have supported climate scientists’ work and conclusions and have stated that accelerated and potentially catastrophic climate change caused by humans is happening; that the Republican party is the only significant political party in the world to deny this; and that climate change action is being held up in the U.S. for non-scientific reasons, Hertsgaard puts the point across extremely well in this short video while putting climate cranks on the hot seat.

The statements at the end of the video by a top big energy lobbyist that “the science really doesn’t matter that much” (as he admits he has said for years) and you won’t get him to argue about the science are more than telling. There is no argument about the general scientific conclusions, but that the science doesn’t really matter that much is only true to a few oil billionaires. To the rest of the world, it matters a ton.

Senator James Inhofe (R-Oklahoma), in the video, says: “What if you’re wrong?” In other words, what if the world’s leading scientific organizations and leading climate scientists are wrong?

Wow, yes, what if the 2% (or less) chance climate scientists are wrong ends up being the reality? I’ll leave you with this cartoon on just that matter:

is global warming a hoax, & what if

Also, one last reminder, we’ll soon be giving away Mark Hertsgaard’s new book, Hot: Living Through the Next Fifty Years on Earth. To enter to win it, click on that link and follow the simple instructions on the bottom.
