Yes, Climategate was Science Denier B.S.

For what I think is the 7th time, independent review has found that Dr. Michael Mann’s work is completely scientifically sound and that climate gate was only a crime in that someone broke in and stole over a decade’s worth of emails (and then someone else used them to try to frame climate scientists.. and quite successfully did so.)

The most recent news on this matter is from about a week ago, but it took me awhile to get to it. From Bloomberg (via Climate Denial Crock of the Week):

Michael Mann, a Pennsylvania researcher who’s been a target of climate-change skeptics, was cleared of wrongdoing by U.S. investigators in the flap surrounding e-mails hacked from a U.K. university.

Finding no “evidence of research misconduct,” the Arlington, Virginia-based National Science Foundation closed its inquiry into Mann, according to an Aug. 15 report from the inspector general for the U.S. agency. Pennsylvania State University, where Mann is a professor of meteorology, exonerated him in February of suppressing or falsifying data, deleting e- mails and misusing privileged information.

The report confirms findings from the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s inspector general and a separate panel of seven scientists based at universities in the U.K., U.S. and Switzerland. The University of East Anglia announced the committee. Ron Oxburgh, the former head of Shell Transport & Trading Plc and a member of the U.K. House of Lords, was chairman.

Who’s surprised? Not me. We’ve covered this story numerous times by now and that was my impression from the first news of it anyway. I was just shocked that it got picked up as the false scandal it was so widely.

  1. What amazes me is the lack of being able to read simple emails. Emails that were never taken out of context. We already know Dr. Mann, passed on Phil Jones’ email about destruction of emails to Dr. Wahl, why isn’t this followed? I think the inquiries were too lame brain to even think to follow properly, the public sees this for what it is, CAGW is not to be believed because these scientists will not share their data and code and argue all you want but unless these so called scientists own up and share their data then no one will believe them, if the results can’t be replicated what good are they, not good at all.

    1. 1- the data has been shared. it has been replicated REPEATEDLY. which is why every major scientific body supports the findings.

& yes, I’m sure the National Academy of Sciences and many leading scientific institutions didn’t take those 7 inquiries seriously and can’t research properly.

with so many inane comments like this, sometimes i wonder how the human species even exists today? but i guess that’s what people like you are trying to change

  2. Seven layers of whitewash do not begin to cover the truth that is plain to see in the original, very incriminating, e-mails. The outright denial of the corruption exposed by Climategate is undignified, and only draws attention to the fact that he ‘climate warmibng’ scam is over. Let it rest.

    1. Jonathan, did you actually look at the emails? Did you actually look into the matter in any depth at all? Obviously, you didn’t.

I love that deniers like you like to say over half a dozen scientific institutions don’t know how to adequately evaluate the matter, though. better to leave it to FOX News commentators with high school diplomas controlled by oil tycoons.

I’m sorry you find it so difficult to accept the fact that you are putting your children’s and grandchildren’s lives at risk and potentially exposing them to really horrible difficulty. but that’s the fact of the matter, exposed by countless scientific bodies countess time now and not in the least disproven by a criminal attack on scientists and effort to frame them
