Uncharted Amazon: Help Preserve Part of the Rainforest On Film

uncharted-amazonJust in case you’re new to the planet, it’s worth mentioning that one of the wildest and most untamed parts of the Earth is the Amazon rainforest, where an incredibly diverse biome is helping to keep the planet healthy. But just because some of us acknowledge the importance of the rainforests doesn’t mean that everyone does, or that efforts will be made to continue to protect it, as many times it’s much more profitable in the short term to clear cut, to log, to drill and mine, and to hunt and trap and gather from the forest, instead of preserving it to serve as an important (and irreplaceable) piece of our world.

Like many big issues, we can’t really get our mind around it without experiencing it in some way, and because it’s not feasible (or desirable, from an environmental perspective) for all of us to go to the Amazon and explore the rainforest in person, it’s important that we have documentary filmmakers and writers and photographers to do that for us.

There’s a small team of filmmakers who want to be able to tell the stories of the Amazon rainforest, and to preserve it on film, so that can serve to garner a lot more support for keeping this great wilderness alive and thriving.

“Uncharted Amazon is about marveling at the complexity and beauty of life in the worlds greatest remaining wilderness, its about going places that few people have ventured and getting a glimpse into the lives of the strange creatures that dwell there. It’s about learning more about the people who live in the rainforest, who’s toughness and ingenuity allows them to survive the harsh conditions. But its also about the difficult decisions these people must make to survive whilst at the same time, somehow try to keep their wilderness alive.”

The filmmakers
are over halfway to their crowdfunding goal, and every pledge counts, so if you can get behind a documentary film about the Amazon rainforest, in all its many forms, consider chipping in to the Kickstarter project.
