Diageo: “We vigorously oppose climate skepticism and our actions are proof of this. We will be reviewing any further association with this organization.”
Glaxo Smith Kline: “GSK absolutely does not endorse or support the Heartland Institute’s views on the environment and climate change.”
Microsoft: “Microsoft’s position on climate change remains unchanged. Microsoft believes climate change is a serious issue that demands immediate, worldwide attention and we are acting accordingly. We are pursuing strategies and taking actions that are consistent with a strong commitment to reducing our own impact as well as the impact of our products. In addition, Microsoft has adopted a broad policy statement on climate change that expresses support for government action to create market-based mechanisms to address climate change.”
Above are some of the comments already made by public corporations identified as supporting the Heartland Institute in some way.
More good coverage of the Heartland Institute leak by Think Progress’ Brad Johnson presents the 19 public corporations that have supported the Heartland Institute according to leaked documents. Here’s more from Brad, followed by a table of the noted corporations and their contributions.
“Internal documents acquired by ThinkProgress Green reveal that the climate-denial think tank Heartland Institute received funding from at least 19 publicly traded corporations in 2010 and 2011. The companies’ combined contributions exceeded $1.3 million for an array of projects. As Think Progress Green reported on Tuesday, the Heartland Institute’s projects included a secret plan to teach children that climate change is a hoax.”
I imagine more companies will come out reconfirming their support for the scientific consensus on global warming as well, since several of them do have a clear stance on this topic.
