Is the viral image purporting to show the 11 pound frog real, or a trick?<\/p>\n<p>All of these questions and more will be answered in this article &#8212; though you may not necessarily like the answers&#8230; Enjoy.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/planetsave.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/image14-e1423462027629.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/planetsave.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/image14-600x633.jpg\" alt=\"11 pound bullfrog\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-43587\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To start off with a bit of background &#8212; the image above went viral somewhat recently, with this caption accompanying it:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>BIG!!! Bullfrog!<br \/>\n11 pound bullfrog caught in a ditch near Sulphur, LA WOW!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>To start off &#8212; the image is indeed real and unaltered, <em>but<\/em>, it <em>is<\/em> misleading owing to the fact that angle that it&#8217;s taken at hides the &#8220;stick&#8221; that the bull frog is pierced with. The frog in the image is actually notably closer to the camera than the human is.<\/p>\n<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-6260354429531949\";\n\/* Nathan PS *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"2067312064\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 468;\ngoogle_ad_height = 60;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\"\nsrc=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>Next up &#8212; while there&#8217;s always some variety with regard to how big various animals grow to, the largest frog species in the region are known to &#8220;only&#8221; grow to be 1.5-2 lbs. While its certainly possible for a freak individual to get larger than that, I can&#8217;t imagine one growing to be 5 times heavier than the heaviest known (well, scientifically verified anyways&#8230;) individuals to date.<\/p>\n<p>On that note though, there are a number of very large frog species in Africa, Asia, and South America, that do get heavier than 2 lbs. The heaviest of which &#8212; the Goliath frogs of <a title=\"West Africa\" href=\"http:\/\/cleantechnica.com\/2015\/01\/19\/access-infra-africa-us500-million-investment-vehicle-renewables-continent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">West Africa<\/a> &#8212; can grow to be as heavy as 7 lbs in weight.
