\nA moderate earthquake measuring a 4.0 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Maine on Tuesday night. On October 16th, about 30 miles from Portland, Maine, the earthquake caused extensive shaking throughout all of New England. The rare earthquake surprised most of the residents, who have rarely if ever experienced one.

There haven’t been any reports of injuries or property damage yet. The USGS has stated on its website that the tremors were noticed as far as way up in upper New Hampshire, upper Vermont, and Maine, and all the way down to Connecticut.
