Here are\u00a0key findings (via <a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/romm\/2011\/12\/09\/386195\/poll-global-warming-worsens-extreme-weather\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Climate Progress<\/a>):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Public understanding that global warming is happening is at\u00a0<strong>63 percent<\/strong>, while belief that it is caused mostly by human activities increased three points since May 2011, to\u00a0<strong>50 percent<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>A majority of Americans (57%)<\/strong>\u00a0now disagree with the statement, \u201cWith the economy in such bad shape, the US can\u2019t afford to reduce global warming\u201d \u2013\u00a0<strong>an 8 point increase<\/strong>\u00a0in disagreement since May 2011.<\/li>\n<li><strong>65 percent\u00a0<\/strong>said that global warming is affecting weather in the United States.<\/li>\n<li><strong>58 percent<\/strong>\u00a0of Americans said that the record heat waves last summer strengthened their belief that global warming is occurring, up 4 points since May 2011.<\/li>\n<li><strong>38 percent<\/strong>\u00a0of Americans said they have personally experienced the effects of global warming, up 4 points since May of 2011.<\/li>\n<li>Americans trust \u201cclimate scientists\u201d (<strong>74%<\/strong>) as a source of information about global warming more than any other group, including \u201cother kinds of scientists\u201d (<strong>65%<\/strong>) and the mainstream media (<strong>38%<\/strong>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Quick News:\u00a0Yale has released\u00a0the results of a new poll on global warming (just a month after releasing a number of poll results on the topic).
