Ethical Regulations Proposed for Human-Animal Hybrids
A working group of the Medical Research Council’s National Institute for Medical Research in London has drawn up the first “regulatory framework” to guide the creation, use and treatment of animal-human hybrids, also known as chimeras. The framework is outlined in the group’s July 22 published document ‘Animals Containing Human Material’ and calls for the UK to take the lead in establishing safeguards for future chimera experiments.
