Obama Blocks Offshore Drilling Until 2022

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management has issued new rules prohibiting offshore drilling in the Arctic Ocean and along the east coast of the United States. They rules will remain in effect until 2022.

Salazar Calls Time-Out on Grand Canyon Mining Claims

β€œI am calling a two-year β€˜Time-Out’ from all new mining claims in the Arizona Strip near the Grand Canyon,” said Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, “because we have a responsibility to ensure we are developing our nation’s resources in a way that protects local communities, treasured landscapes, and our watersheds,” said Secretary Salazar.
