New Research Supports Theory Of 9th Planet Orbiting On Fringes Of Solar System

The past few years have seen a lot of speculation and debate about a possible ninth planet orbiting somewhere on the very out fringes of the solar system. Now, new research from the University of Arizona has provided some further support for the theory. The research also narrows the possibilities of where such a planet […]

Common GMO Crops Approaching Inevitable Failure? Flawed Assumptions Behind Multi-Toxin Biotech Crops, Researchers Warn

Many of the assumptions that the use of GMO crops are based upon are not true, researchers at the University of Arizona have found. Specifically, the widely-used new strategy of planting GMO crops that produce two or more toxins to provide “redundant” killing of insect pests is based on assumptions that simply aren’t always true.

Water on Mars? Scientists See Possibility of Salty Water in Martian 'Seasonal Flows'

A team of scientists, led by Alfred S. McEwan of the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, University of Arizona, Tucson, may have identified the tell-tale signs of “seasonal flows” (small channels attributable to downhill water movements) on certain Martian slopes. The potentially game-changing discovery, which was enabled by an analysis performed by an undergraduate student, has got the astronomy, planetary and astrobiology science communities rather excited.
