North Carolina Bans Climate Change?

I don’t understand why a state would outlaw climate change. North Carolina is on the sea and if the water levels rise it would kill their tourism industry. Which in return would almost bankrupt the state. A lot of people go to the beaches in the state for vacations and spend tons of money there.

UK Climate Activist Event this Weekend

Long before US climate activists were getting arrested in front of the White House for a little civil disobedience, UK climate activists were chaining themselves to airplanes and climbing large coal power plants in the UK. I have thought for awhile now that UK climate activism has been seriously out-doing our US climate activism. But a lot of changes are in the works, and discussions of new directions. Here’s a note from leading UK climate activist group Climate Camp on an important meeting coming up this weekend:

"Tar Sands 52" Activist Opens Up

This is a full repost of a great article that was published over on Climate Progress over the weekend. The first little paragraph before the photo is by Dr. Joe Romm of Climate Progress. The main article is by one of the initial 52 tar sands activists arrested and held in jail for a longer period of time than initially expected/warned.

Just Do It: UK Climate Activism Film {VIDEOS}

At the end of 2010, I wrote a piece on an exciting, fabulous, inspiring documentary on UK climate change activism over on Change.org. The film is actually launching today.

Researching the piece, I discovered all sort of awesome UK climate activism I wasn’t aware of before. It made me really respect the direct action climate change movement in the UK, which seems to be leagues ahead of the US direct action movement. I just ran across the documentary — Just Do It — again and thought it was high time (British English) to share it with folks over here on Planetsave.

16-Year-Old iMatter Leader & Kids vs Global Warming Founder is Suing the US

Yes, you read that right, 16-year-old Alec Loorz, who I’ve written about a couple times before, is taking his concerns about catastrophic global warming and how it will affect his and future generations to another level. Beyond the direct action and online activism that he is a clear leader in, he is now suing the United States of America.

10 days ago, he wrote: “This morning I filed a lawsuit against the United States of America, for allowing money to be more powerful than the survival of my generation, and for making decisions that threaten our right to a safe and healthy planet.”

Climate Camp Gathering in UK This Weekend

This is a little bit of a last-minute announcement, but if you don’t know what to do this weekend and are in the UK, or if you are just a super-enthusiastic climate change activist, there is a big climate camp gathering in the UK this weekend, November 6th and 7th. It will be in the
