Why Not Celebrate #GivingTuesday by Planting Trees?

In direct response to over-the-top consumer spending “holidays” like Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday offers an excellent opportunity to help support our valiant non-profit organizations and our overburdened Earth. Why not celebrate #GivingTuesday by planting trees?

Partnering with the Arbor Day Foundation, Home Care Assistance has announced it will plant 5,000 new trees in 2017. The nation’s fastest growing provider of in-home care has been planting trees in honor of senior clients since 2005. Dubbed the “home care company with a Silicon Valley soul,” Home Care Assistance is expanding their tree planting program this year to honor clients and their families on special holidays and occasions throughout the year.

Help Sustain the Earth on #GivingTuesday

Increasing our commitment to helping sustain our Earth on #GivingTuesday comes at a critical moment in our history. The future of our country’s approach to environmental protection is in jeopardy, to say the least, based on Donald Trump’s brutish campaign of blockheaded capitalism.

Regardless of our government’s future approach, most of us recognize the importance of preserving our Earth’s natural resources for future generations to enjoy. Home Care Assistance notes that its senior care experts speak with seniors across the country regularly and understand environmental protection is an important cause that many hold dear.

“At Home Care Assistance we are privileged to work with older adults who we care for like family,” said Home Care Assistance CEO Lily Sarafan. “Our partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation is the perfect avenue to celebrate their lives and help them continue their legacy with a greener planet for their grandchildren and future generations.”

The 5,000 new trees that Home Care Assistance has pledged on #GivingTuesday will be planted in California’s Tahoe National Forest and Minnesota’s Chippewa National Forest. Planting trees helps to combat climate change, improves air quality, prevents soil erosion, and so much more.

The Arbor Environmental Alliance notes that one acre of trees can absorb enough CO2 to offset the carbon emissions produced by driving a car 26,000 miles. It also notes that each tree absorbs carbon dioxide (CO2) at a rate of 48 pounds per year, so at 5,000 trees this represents 120,000 tons of significant relief against global climate change annually.

Announced to the press on #GivingTuesday, Arbor Day Foundation CEO Matt Harris stated, “We’re grateful to Home Care Assistance for becoming a steward of our nation’s forests.” He added, “Our forests are part of the long and important legacy of the people and the land of our country. Thanks to Home Care Assistance’s participation in our Commemorative Tree Programs, thousands of trees will be planted to help clean the air, protect water resources, and restore habitat and beauty to forests that have suffered devastation.”

As one of the world’s largest operating conservation foundations, Arbor Day Foundation has dedicated its services to planting over 250 million trees over the past 44 years with more than one million members, supporters, and valued partners. The foundation states, “Our vision is to help others understand and use trees as a solution to many of the global issues we face today, including air quality, water quality, climate change, deforestation, poverty and hunger.”

Offering Innovative Senior Care

Besides planting trees, Home Care Assistance is hard at work giving back in many new and innovative ways through other interesting partnership. For example, with Lyft, the fastest-growing rideshare company in the US, Home Care Assistance offers its clients on-demand rides with a simple phone call. With OhmniLabs, a Silicon Valley-based robotics company, Home Care Assistance is working on an innovative pilot project “to bring affordable and capable robots that virtually provide companionship and care for older adults.”

Complementing its exceptional caregiving services, Home Care Assistance has also developed and piloted a unique range of high-tech solutions, including smart home sensors, proprietary management tools, and the Cognitive Therapeutics Method™ program.

As one of 2016’s 50 fastest growing women-owned companies in the world, CEO Lily Sarafan was also named Health Care Executives’ 2016 Woman of the Year. Offering home care for nearly 20,000 seniors across the US, Canada, and Australia, Sarafan notes, “Our services are distinguished by the caliber of our caregivers, the responsiveness of our staff and our expertise in daily care. We provide older adults with quality care that enables them to live happier, healthier lives at home.”

“We embrace a positive, balanced approach to aging centered on the evolving needs of older adults.”
