Summer Solstice 2013 Google Doodle Is Refreshing

Summer solstice 2013 is here. Among other things, that means it’s hot! It also means a lot of people are headed to the beach to enjoy the sun and also cool off in the ocean… or sea or lake or whatever you have in your area.

Google has commemorated the annual event with a cool Google Doodle that shows a wave rippling along in front of some beach-goers and snorkelers. It’s quite fun, cute. And, unfortunately, being far from what I would call a true beach, it makes me miss the wonderful beaches of Southwest Florida, where I grew up. I’m yet to run across such wonderful beaches.

Here’s a screenshot of the 2013 Google Doodle (but, really, head on over to Google.com to see the animated version):

Also, let’s not miss the opportunity here — on one of the hottest days of the year — to remind you how you can green your probably much-needed air conditioning and fans.

For one, you could perhaps go an buy an affordable, solar-powered air conditioner. Or, even better, you can go solar completely — there are numerous ways to go solar today.

Let’s enjoy this year’s summer solstice. Let’s celebrate it. But let’s also use it to improve our lives and become greener citizens. Mark summer solstice 2013 as a day of important change.
