I got a great present this year for my birthday that I would like to share with those who are interested in organic foods that are grown with no presence of chemical fertilizers, synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or genetically modified ingredients (GMOs).
This has been the mission of Cascadian Farm for over 40 years. The company is identified as one that converts conventional farms to organic. Its farming protects water quality, preserves the soil, and reduces impact on the environment.
I got the chance to try their new Crunchy Oats & Honey Granola Bars, made with 7 wholesome ingredients: rolled oats, sugar, sunflower oil, honey, sea salt, molasses, and vanilla extract — from which all but one (sea salt) are organic. Additionally, they do not contain any artificial flavors or artificial preservatives. Within crunchy granola bars, you can find cocoa or peanut butter ones, too. Cascadian Farm also offers a great variety of chewy granola bars, cereals, frozen fruits and veggies, fruit juice concentrates, fruit spreads, and a relish.
Crunchy Granola Bars can be a perfect simple snack option for those who love toasted crunchy oats with rich flavor of floral honey and a touch of vanilla. I must admit, though, that having sugar as a second ingredient, the granola bars are quite sweet. But part of the sweetness is definitely the honey, which you can very clearly taste. And then there is also molasses! They can definitely be a dessert for those who have a sweet tooth, as I seem to have sometimes. I am really looking forward to trying some of their other products, as I appreciate organic farming.
A key point, of course, is that oats are great for you. Rolled oats are especially high in fiber, which helps with bowel movements as well as blood pressure and hypertension. They also contain antioxidants that help with these things.
There is a great online community on the Cascadian Farm website providing tips on organic gardening, living sustainably, or green family activities. Also, do not miss Cascadian Farm’s recipes section including some vegetarian options.
Cascadian Farm is not only a brand of organic foods, it is actually a real and active farm, situated in the North Cascades mountain range, providing people with wholesome organic foods. The farm produces mainly fresh blueberries, but also strawberries, raspberries, kiwis, pepper and pumpkins. During summer time, their daily opened Roadside Stand offers not only seasonal berries, but also homemade organic ice cream, shortcakes, preserves, and organic snacks.
If you are around, do not hesitate to stop by and treat you and your family with those delicious organic goods. It must be worth it.
