The most comprehensive map of bike-sharing programs in the world (and it is comprehensive!) hit 2 million total views this last week. After taking a few years to reach its first 1 million, it got to 2 million in just another 11 months. Screenshot of the map above. The person behind the map, Paul DeMaio, is also behind the bike-sharing blog, where I ran across this news.
Great news. I’m really happy to see a bike-sharing movement growing so strongly around the world, as I expected it would when I first heard Paul DeMaio speak about the evolution of bike-sharing programs about 5 years ago in Washington, D.C. (when I was the director of a green transportation, especially bicycle transportation advocacy organization in Charlottesville, VA).
