OK, so, technically, I think the project (DESERTEC) is budgeted at about $555 billion, but who’s counting? This is a humongous clean energy project for North Africa, the Middle East, and Europe that is projected to provide Europe with about 15% of its electricity demand by 2050 and will help power North Africa and the Middle East, as well. It is actually one of the first things I wrote about here on Planetsave, back in 2009. Now, news is the first power plant, a concentrated solar power (CSP) plant in Morocco is almost ready to move forward. Here’s more:
