Mount Etna Erupting Again [Photos and Videos]

One of the tallest and one of the most active volcanoes in the world, Mount Etnain in Sicily is erupting again, spewing lava and ash into the air.

This is the tenth time this year that Mount Etna has erupted, each time causing volcanic tremors, ash emissions, and lava flows.

On August 12, 2011 at 09:40 UTC, NASA’s Terra satellite flew overhead and captured the above image of the ash plume blowing in a south-southeasterly direction into the Ionian Sea. The image was capture by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on board Terra.

Unsurprisingly, there are also other images of the volcano erupting, which can be found below, as well as video footage.
