New Book Giveaway Contest — Rachel Carson's The Sea Around Us

Rachel Carson The Sea Around Us

Rachel Carson is considered by many as a critical catalyst of the environmental movement. She brought activism and information to those who loved nature; who cherished a healthy environment, clean air, and clean water; and who wanted to leave their children with the same high-quality resources they were left with.

She was a key inspiration to many of us in the environmental movement, as well as many environmental scientists who have made the world a better place and have learned and taught us so much about it.

Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring was a critical book (way back before we had anything but books and newspapers to read) that helped simulate the grassroots environmental movement that eventually led to the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and many of the critical environmental regulations that make the United States a beautiful and healthy place to live in today (of course, things could be better on that front if more people read Carson’s books or others like them or at least learned to adequately cherish and value the clean air and water and livable climate we all need to live healthy lives).

In addition to Silent Spring, Carson wrote a number of other highly praised, standout books.

With Earth Day approaching, Open Road Media is releasing Rachel Carson’s Under the Sea Wind, The Sea Around Us, and A Sense of Wonder as ebooks. And it has contacted us to partner up on another book giveaway contest.

“ [Carson has] a rare gift for transmuting scientific fact into lucid, lyrical language.” — TIME

“ Her book remains fresh, in part because of her ability to convey scientific insight in vivid poetic language—but, perhaps more important, because what she has to say is still so relevant today.” — Scientific American

“ As stimulating as a breeze from the oceans about which she writes; an invigorating and exciting book.” — Boston Herald
