Catastrophic, Unprecedented Floods in Pakistan and Other Parts of Asia
Despite very little attention in the U.S., Pakistan’s worst disaster in modern history was a huge issue, as well as major floods in other areas of the country.
TIME’s Bryan Walsh called these floods the “biggest humanitarian disaster in recent memory—bigger even than the earthquake that hit Haiti in January and the 2004 Asian tsunami” and correctly notes that “the unrelenting rains that have produced the Asian flood is the sort of extreme weather that is likely to become more common with climate change.”
