Climate Justice

I recently received this press release from Alex Rafalowicz of ClimateDebt. It is a simple announcement but the resources linked below are quite comprehensive and unique. Check out the 2-page documents linked below for a less-heard perspective on some key issues concerning climate change.

Several civil society organizations focused on climate justice have compiled a set of 13 briefing papers to help UNFCCC delegates, advocates, journalists and members of the public understand various topics being discussed at the negotiations in Cancun and their real world impacts.

The goal of the briefs is to connect some of the ideas and energy of the World People’s Conference on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth in Cochabamba with issues on the table UN climate talks….

Links to the briefing papers follow, please note that these materials have been produced by a number of different organisations listed in full on each brief, but the content of each is not endorsed by all the contributors.

  1. Shared Vision
  2. Adaptation
  3. Mitigation by developed countries
  4. Sharing technology and knowledge
  5. International climate finance
  6. The World Bank and climate finance
  7. Carbon markets
  8. Forests and REDD
  9. Agriculture and climate change
  10. The United States and climate negotiations
  11. Human rights and climate justice
  12. Gender and climate change
  13. Climate Debt

Some interesting stuff in there. Highly important topics for the world to wrestle with and hopefully address in an adequate manner. Great work by a great crew of diverse organizations.
