Biking, if you haven’t gathered by now, is one of the best ways to improve the environment and your health. It is also one of the best ways to save money.
It is common sense that bicycling is good for us.
Nonetheless, only 2% of federal transportation spending goes to bicycling and walking (12% of all trips are by bike or by foot).
A recent post on sustainablog covers a great program that I thought I shared on Planetsave awhile back but now can’t find in our archives. So, thought I should share it (again?) now. The program, or pledge, is People for Bikes, and is one good attempt at increasing support for bicycling projects and funding in the U.S.
By signing the petition at People For Bikes, you will add your voice to that of a million others to influence leaders in Congress as well as state and local governments to invest in biking infrastructure and programs. Making the world a better place to ride will serve us today and serve our children and grandchildren in the years to come.
Go on over to People for Bikes and add your name, and perhaps story, now.
This post is a quickie, a way for us to share more news with you by quickly covering good stories on other sites.
