PETA Likes Gore's .ECO Domain, Wants OffsetAlGore.eco

PETA already has a website dedicated to pressuring Al Gore to drop the meat from his diet, but when they caught wind of his proposed new .ECO domain, they couldn’t resist the opportunity to take another stab at him.

Ingrid Newkirk, PETA’s president and founder, sent a letter to the CEO of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers announcing PETA’s support for the new domain and their intention to register www.OffsetAlGore.eco if the application for the domain suceeds.

“Mr. Gore doesn’t want to acknowledge the inconvenient truth: There’s no such thing as a meat-eating environmentalist,” says PETA President Ingrid E. Newkirk. “Raising animals for food is the main culprit of climate change, so meat has no place in any eco-friendly domain.”

Paul Twomey, CEO
Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers

Dear Mr. Twomey:

I am writing to register PETA’s support of Al Gore and Dot Eco LLC’s application to create the new “.eco” domain. PETA plans to purchase OffsetAlGore.eco to raise awareness about the damage that Mr. Gore’s meat addiction is causing the planet. Come to think of it, we should also register AlGoresMeatAddiction.eco — simply by going vegetarian, Dot Eco LLC’s biggest supporter will have a lighter footprint on the Earth and the scale.

PETA already owns OffsetAlGore.com, but we believe that OffsetAlGore.eco would help us highlight the following facts:

*  The official handbook of the Live Earth concerts that Gore helped organize acknowledges that not eating meat is “the single most effective thing” that people can do to reduce their climate change impact (emphasis in original).

* A U.N. study has determined that the meat industry generates 40 percent more greenhouse-gas emissions than all the cars, trucks, SUVs, ships, and planes in the world combined.

*  Researchers at the University of Chicago have concluded that going purely vegetarian is 50 percent more effective in combating the climate crisis than switching to a hybrid car.

Raising awareness about climate change won’t be effective unless famous environmentalists such as Gore take the greasy chicken wings out of their mouths and tell the public the truly inconvenient truth: that the best way to “go green” is to go vegetarian.

I look forward to hearing your decision about Dot Eco LLC’s request. Thank you for your consideration.

Very truly yours,
Ingrid E. Newkirk
President

  1. I think you are killing us at a faster rate. Recycling is at least 10 times as bad for the planet as look at how many more trucks it takes to handle it.

  2. Global Warming is a horrible thing that is happening to the Earth and everything on the Earth. I think that people need to start talking care of the world better and stop doing things that will hurt it!
