US “clean gas” wells in operation (Irekia-Eusko Jaurlaritza in blogs.lse.ac.uk) Turns out that just about everyone (including President Obama) has been hugely underestimating the methane pollution levels of so-called “clean gas.” The booming American economy now seems to come at a greater cost than we originally thought when we found out that natural gas produces […]
We know they’re out there, silently and ceaselessly dumping and pumping toxins into our air, water, and land. Still, it’s hard for the average citizen to keep track of the worst of them. Polluters never sleep. Concerned citizens will feel more secure knowing that at least one form of pollution — air pollution — […]
Occupy activists fed up with the Koch Brother’s insane control over government are gathering this weekend in Wichita, Kansas for a series of events concerning energy, environmental, and climate policies. The series of events is being termed “Occupy Koch Town” since Koch Industries is based in Wichita and since the Koch brothers are infamous as […]
More on Those Crazy Kochs [….]
If only this group of angry shouters weren’t puppets in a larger game.
Corporate Accountability International is hosting its annual Corporate Hall of Shame “awards.” Good list of candidates to choose from. Make your way over to the Corporate Hall of Shame Voting Booth to vote. Here’s a preview of the corporations in the running this year:
It’s certainly good for politicians to listen to their constituents–it doesn’t happen enough. But, when their constituents are backed by rich influence, and when their constituents are so woefully close minded, you end up with corrupt politicians, ignorant constituents, and increasingly powerful and corrupt rich influence. Not good. The Tea Party does not realize how […]

David and Charles Koch might not be household names, but as major funders of climate denial organizations, they’re directly disrupting clean energy innovation and the future of our climate with your dollars. Let us explain….
Koch Industries, owned by Charles and David Koch, is not only the second-largest private company in America, it is the most politically active. As ThinkProgress has carefully documented over the last three years, Koch groups have spent tens of millions to influence government policy and buy politicians. From financing the Tea Parties, to funding junk […]
Since we had plenty of news last Friday and I was heading out of town, I decided to leave our weekly roundup of global weirding and environmental news (that we didn’t already cover) to Monday. Here’s the global weirding portion. Climate: Student Reporters Take on Climate Change and Security Coincidences abound—just after posting an item […]
The idiom “tilting at windmills” (or turbines) derives from the novel Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes. It means to attack imaginary enemies, or fight unwinnable or futile battles. Big Oil and Coal (and others) are in a futile battle against clean energy. Clean energy will inevitably emerge victorious. Unfortunately, when oil billionaire brothers, Charles and David Koch of Koch Industries (apologies for putting their names on the horse and ass’s asses) fight unwinnable battles you can be certain the pointless battles will last a lot longer than they should. Putting approximately 100 million dollars of their money into right-wing coffers to keep fellow polluters happy and federal regulations lax, Koch Industries is more than eager to fight a battle that compromises our future and greatly compromises the future of our children. The same children to which they are now eagerly marketing.
The “largest corporation you’ve never heard of” — the first or second largest corporation in the US — is the leading source of funds for anti-climate science efforts. [social_buttons] It’s much more fun to write on the good stuff environmentally friendly people and businesses are doing, but occasionally we have to take a look at […]
