Sustainable Ecovillage Community in Nick News’ A Kid Off The Grid
What’s it like to live in an off the grid straw bale house, use solar power, grow your own food, and collect rainfall from your roof? What if your father was a famous actor turned green activist? Nick News documents the lives of kids living alternative, ecological lifestyles in their new A Kid Off The Grid television program. The show features three kids’ stories from Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage in northeastern Missouri, a sustainable off the grid community, and that of Hayden Begley, daughter of Ed Begley Jr., the popular environmental celebrity.

In this Nickelodeon Nick News segment, three kids from Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage talk about just how different their lives are from those living in the city or suburbs, especially because all their power comes from the sun, they live in a green home, and get drinking water from collected rainfall.
Hayden Begley talks about what makes her life different from other families in Studio City, California, and Alexis from the Bronx, New York grows a rooftop garden in the middle of the city.

Great post.
Focusing attention on successes in changing the way we eat and live is great.
Even if you can’t go off the grid on thing everyone can do is eat less meat.
Brain,
Your blog is truly enlightening. I’ve been reading about your experiences at Dancing Rabbit and think you may be able to help me out with a lead for the MTV documentaries series “True Life”. I’m looking for an individual who is immersed in a community like Dancing Rabbit dating someone from outside that group who is maybe working on introducing them to their way of living. There are many other angles to go off of on this maybe we could brain storm?
