Attention Planetsavers: We’re F**ked.

bhutto.jpgWe need to step back from the blinding light of our solar panels and take a good look at our Earth’s political environment. Benazir Bhutto’s assassination is a wake up call for everyone. Scarier than any global warming crisis?

  1. absolutely not!

political upheaval has been going on for a really long time, kings and dukes and princes knocked each other off frequently. It sucks for Pakistan, maybe Afghanistan, but global warming effects everyone - and much of the flora and fauna on the planet as well. I think Yitzhak Rabin’s assassination was felt more than this will be. Benazir’s death is a blow though.

  2. Admar5, you are most likely correct… but it does amaze me how many people pay no attention to events like this, which may be a turning point in our (human) history… sometimes one has to yell ‘fire’ (or f**ked) to encourage people to dig a bit deeper into what’s going on with our entire planet… not just the US.

  3. Thanks for the dose of perspective!

  4. Are you kidding? Benzir Bhutto was a typical Pakistani politician - a massive fraudster and power hungry. During her tenure she stole over a billion US Dollars from the Pakistan treasury and as a consequence was indirectly responsible for more want, starvation and death in the country than probably at any other time in its history. The fact that she has been killed does not alter this fact in the slightest.

  5. There are few politicians who aren’t “corrupt” Take a look in our own backyard.

  6. Right, I did not even get into the past allegations and I believe actual prison time served by her husband for corruption (according to wikipedia). That said, it is unfortunate that this is THE BEST hope for democracy. As an update, her SON has been named party leader, a 19 yr. old with university education still to finish, this is the royalty element I spoke of earlier!

  7. Boy emperors … makes me think of times past. ;) Maybe we are doomed, then!
