Tales from the Bizarro World: What if General Motors Hired Rush Limbaugh to promote how Green they are?
I promise you, I am not making this up. This is not from the Onion.
GM hired Rush Limbaugh to do a radio ad about how Green a company they are.
Rush Limbaugh. The fat drug addict right-wing hypocrite ignorant jerkass blowhard.
GM. The most un-green company this side of Monsanto, the one that builds gas guzzling monster cars and blocks any bump in fuel efficiency standards, the one that Killed the Electric Car.
Green. The simple idea that we shouldn’t poison and destroy the world we live in.
It’s rare to find those things together in a sentence, rarer still to find them together without a lot of “nots”, “aren’ts”, and “scoffed at” in between.
Seriously, this actually happened.
.
I spotted this first on Ecorazzi (from Autoblogreen), here is their take on it
File this on under unbelievable. Just when you think General Motors has more than two brain cells rubbing together on working to improve America’s impression of fuel efficiency in auto-making, someone had the clever idea to hire right-wing radio host Rush Limbaugh to tout their green initiatives. This is the same guy that revels in owning a Maybach because it has shitty mileage, believes global warming is bogus, and calls environmentalists “wackos”.
It gets better. Not only does Limbaugh praise GM’s commitment to the environment, but he also heaps praise on his Escalade and Suburban SUVs.
It’s like they set out to write a case study on how to NOT market green. It’s so terribly, wonderfully bad it’s good. Rush. GM. Green. Huh? I’m confused.
Another car in the anti-GM train is Grist’s article Is the Chevy Volt more GM Greenwashing?
