Try Being Veg for 30 Days, Foundation Will Plant a Fruit Tree for Those in Need

Posted in:

PETA has teamed up with the Experience Project to request that people try being vegetarian for 30 days. In return, PETA will donate to The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation, an organization which plants fruit trees in poor villages all over the world.

If you’ve ever considered trying to give up meat but haven’t given it a shot, this would be an excellent time to dip your toes into the water. Even if you’re not a fan of PETA, who can argue against planting fruit trees?

The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation exists simply to “collectively plant 18 billion fruit trees for a healthy planet (approximately 3 for every person alive).” Beyond the obvious benefit of bearing food for those who most need it, fruit trees help the environment by improving soil quality, preventing erosion, and cleaning air.

Of course, being vegetarian has its environmental benefits too.
