Forest Restoration Scientist: The Nature Conservancy
The Forest Restoration Scientist will synthesize and advance applied scientific research associated with global forest restoration efforts while providing technical and scientific support and leadership as a subject matter expert for conservation initiatives. The Forest Restoration Scientist will contribute topical expertise to cross-cutting science issues for the organization, and represent the organization in communications with scientific, policy, and practitioner communities. The Forest Restoration Scientist reports to the Director of Forest Carbon Science on the Global Land’s team.
Aquatic Senior Science Technician: NEON
Reporting to the Aquatics Assistant Director, the Aquatic Senior Science Technician supports the Aquatic Team in their effort to prepare the NEON Observatory for Operations by providing technical experience in the areas of written documentation, GIS mapping and analysis, illustrations, and website management. The Senior Science Technician assists the team in a variety of activities including supporting the developing of standardized operating procedures for field sensor and equipment maintenance, field data collection and field QA/QC, assisting in the development of a training program, and finalizing the design of Aquatic sensor installations.
Wildlife Technician: Virginia Tech
Candidate will work with Virginia Tech to assist with research and monitoring of gopher tortoise, reticulated flatwoods salamander, and other wildlife on Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. Position will require working a combination of days/nights in winter and summer in potentially adverse conditions (high heat, cold, rain). Responsibilities will include setting and monitoring camera traps at gopher tortoise burrows, conducting tortoise burrow surveys, monitoring drift fences and conducting dipnet surveys for flatwoods salamanders, conducting anuran call surveys, training other crew members in proper field techniques and data collection and management, and photo categorization and general data entry and proofing. Work will begin in early June 2016 and continue through April 2017.
Digital Engagement Manager: Western Resource Advocates
Western Resource Advocates (WRA) is seeking an experienced Digital Engagement Manager to be part of our dynamic Communications Team. WRA works to protect the West’s land, air, and water, using law, science and economics to craft innovative solutions to the most pressing conservation issues in the region. Based in Boulder, CO, the new Manager will craft creative, engaging and effective digital outreach and lead our web and email strategies. The Manager will help increase the visibility and leadership of WRA, help support digital fundraising and grow our constituent base, and use digital strategies to further our Clean Energy, Healthy Rivers, Clean Air and Western Lands program goals. We are seeking a candidate with at least two years’ experience.
