A Direct Link Between Energy Use & Ocean Health
Surfrider Foundation CEO Chad Nelsen recently announced, “We are excited to offer our members an easy, affordable way to save on their energy bills with solar through this partnership with SunPower.” Nelson noted, “There is a direct connection between our energy use and the health of our ocean, so using the sun’s renewable energy just makes sense.”
Founded in 1984 by a handful of visionary surfers in Malibu, California, the Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit grassroots organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of our world’s oceans, waves, and beaches. With a powerful activist network, Surfrider now has more than 250,000 supporters, activists, and members worldwide.
SunPower — Manufacturing With the Earth in Mind
Tom Werner, SunPower president and CEO, said, “SunPower offers better control of electricity costs with the world’s highest efficiency solar panels, which are manufactured with the Earth in mind every step of the way as part of our holistic corporate sustainability program.” Werner continued, “We look forward to enabling Surfrider Foundation members and supporters to generate their own clean electricity with solar, and supporting the organization’s valuable environmental initiatives.”
Headquartered in San Jose, California, SunPower Corp has offices in North and South America, Europe, Australia, Africa, and Asia. With 30 years of experience, SunPower “designs, manufactures, and delivers the highest efficiency, highest reliability solar panels and systems available today.” Residential, business, government, and utility customers rely on SunPower’s guaranteed performance to provide maximum return on investment throughout the life of the solar system.
Creating a More Sustainable Future
At a time when clean energy and water sources are critical to the health of our planet, this new partnership between SunPower and the Surfrider Foundation helps more U.S. homeowners to create a more sustainable future. In addition to helping homeowners offset carbon emissions, high-efficiency SunPower® solar panels deliver 70% more energy from the same space during the first 25 years, as compared to conventional solar panels. This means customers can enjoy greater benefits from their solar panels for a longer period of time.
When purchasing or leasing a high-efficiency residential solar energy system from SunPower, eligible Surfrider Foundation members and supporters can receive a $500 mail-in rebate. Also as part of the program offered by SunPower, the Surfrider Foundation will receive a donation of $1,000 from SunPower for each eligible system installed.
