Dog Presented As Lion At Zoo

Surely anyone would be able to tell the difference between a large dog and a huge cat. A zoo in China reportedly put a dog in a cage but labelled it as lion. The zoo is in Louhe, located in the province of Henan.

“The zoo is absolutely trying to cheat us. They are trying to disguise dogs as lions,” explained a visitor. (Source: CNN)

In one of the photographs on CNN, it appears that the fur has been combed to more resemble a lion’s. The ‘lion’ was a Tibetan Mastiff. This a large hairy dog that does not resemble a lion very much, due to the smaller size, much smaller head and brown fur that is not even close to the same beige color of lion fur.

An official at the zoo explained that lion was away for mating, but there was also speculation that facility was trying to cut costs. At least one dog was found in a wolf cage and a fox was in a leopard cage.

False advertising in China has been enough of a problem that there was a public announcement about cracking down on it in 2012.
