The International Conservation Photography Awards – Ten Friday Photos

‘Underdogs’ by Neil Aldridge

This Saturday, the International Conservation Photography Awards and Exhibition ceremony will once again kick-off at the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture, located on the University of Washington campus in Seattle, Washington.

The biennial, juried competition, founded in 1997 by acclaimed local nature photographer, Art Wolfe, will feature nearly 80 of the most captivating photographic works submitted by both amateur and professional photographers from all over the world. Over 1500 submissions were entered under competitive categories such as  ‘Environments at Risk’ , ‘Wild Life’, ‘Under Water’, ‘Landscape’, ‘Flora’, ‘Documenting Conservation Projects’, and a ‘Student category.

Lucky for our Planetsave readers, the good folks at the Burke have given us permission to offer this “sneak peak” ahead of the exhibition opening!

The following photos (including the featured photo, above) are amongst the top place or honorable mention winners. The organizers have asked that I kindly not list which photos here have won which prizes before Saturday night’s official awards ceremony.

So, until then (check back later) please enjoy these compelling, award-winning images!
