Meatout — Coming to a City Near You

meatout

Meatout activists are looking to help more people dump the cause of at least 51% of our global warming pollution emissions this March. These activists are organizing events around the country and around the world for March 20. All 50 U.S. states and at least two dozen other countries will be participating.

More info from Meatout: “Last year, Meatout activists served thousands of vegan food samples; this year we’re shooting to reach 30,000 people! We’re partnering with several vegan food companies that can provide samples to you directly, or you can apply for a grant through VegFund.”

“All activists planning to hold food samplings will receive a new handout, which, in addition to information about a vegan diet, gives recipients a chance to enter to win movie tickets in exchange for participating in a short online survey about their dietary choices!”

As the image above (a screenshot of the site Live Vegan) indicates, eating vegetarian or vegan is not only good for animals — it’s also good for your health, the climate (see the link at the top of the page), and more components of the environment.

Opportunities for action:

To help out with Meatout 2012, you can:

  1. Register to organize a meatout action.
  2. Learn more about organizing a feed-in.
  3. And, as stated above, you can apply for a food-sample grant.

Hope you join in the fun this year, by either organizing an event or at least participating in one. As I often say, Mike Tyson has even gone vegan — you can give it a shot, too! (Also note, on this MLK day, that Martin Luther King, Jr.’s wife and son are now vegan.)

  1. If MLK had lived long enough, I’m sure he would advance this cause, like his son Dexter does now:

Aren’t humans amazing? They kill wildlife – birds, deer, all kinds of cats, coyotes, beavers, groundhogs, mice and foxes by the million in order to protect their domestic animals and their feed.

Then they kill domestic animals by the billion and eat them. This in turn kills people by the million, because eating all those animals leads to degenerative – and fatal –  health conditions like heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, and cancer.

So then humans spend billions of dollars torturing and killing millions more animals to look for cures for these diseases.

Elsewhere, millions of other human beings are being killed by hunger and malnutrition because food they could eat is being used to fatten domestic animals.

Meanwhile, few people recognize the absurdity of humans, who kill so easily and violently, and then plead for “Peace on Earth.”
