Bill Clinton Vegan Diet, PETA to Start XXX Site, Ellen Degeneres Announces New Vegan Site

August 20th, 2011 by

Well, this is a wild vegan weekend, it seems. There are 3 big stories I’ve run across so far.

bill clinton vegan diet

  1. Bill Clinton, who went almost vegan last year, is going to be featured on a CNN interview tomorrow about his vegan diet. Clinton went vegan for health reasons and has seen tremendous results. As I mentioned over on Eat Drink Better when discussing Clinton’s vegan diet and interview, he is not the only notable celebrity to go vegan in recent years. Mike Tyson is another notable new vegan, and he’s said now, “I wish I was born this way” (video included in that story).
  2. PETA, probably the most well-known organization advocating for veganism, has stirred up a lot of controversy over the years for its ads of naked women such as Pamela Anderson and videos of naked female stars like Alicia Silverston. Now, with the announcement that .xxx sites will be available for purchase, PETA has said that it will register and use peta.xxx — ” instead of blocking its name, said PETA spokeswoman Lindsay Rajt, the organization will launch peta.xxx as a pornography site that draws attention to the plight of animals.” Cnet has more: “There will be a lot of girl and boy next door content, but we haven’t ruled out celebrities on the site as well. People who are extraordinarily dedicated to helping animals and who are willing to do whatever it takes to draw attention to the suffering they endure.” Wow. Well, that’ll get some attention. How much it will help the cause.. that’s always up for debate.
  3. Lastly, Ellen Degeneres has announced she is launching a new vegan diet and lifestyle site.

Looks like the vegan “trend” or lifestyle is picking up steam.

Good for the planet, good for the animals, and good for people’s health.
