Amazon Rain Forest Drought is Tremendous, Concerning [VIDEO]

Tremendous droughts in the Amazon are pressing global issues that we’ve covered on here before. 2005 and 2010 saw droughts at a level that have caused serious environmental problems and are wildly outside the norm. See: Dual Amazon Droughts Alarm Scientists or Amazon Gets Hit with Extreme Drought, Perhaps Worst Ever (Global Weirding?) for more on our previous coverage.

One of the great concerns of droughts in the Amazon is that the release of CO2 that results from them is huge, greatly significant for the world as a whole as it further contributes to global warming an catastrophic climate change.

The video above covers this issue well, so I thought I’d share it to bring a little more attention to this important topic.

Also, as you can see in the related stories on the bottom, tremendous drought is affecting and predicted to affect much more than the Amazon. Drought is one of the critical problems predicted to occur from climate change (and already occurring from it, it seems). The result is higher food and water prices and insecurity, which results in death and world conflict.

What’s the lesson? It would pay to address climate change sooner rather than later; the longer we wait, the more we will see amplifying feedback loops like this one and the more climate change will be out of our control.
